Pupil Premium Funding*
The Pupil Premium is an additional government fund which is allocated to schools to support the learning of vulnerable pupils. The actual sum varies each year as it is calculated according to the number of children registered for Free School Meals (FSM). School Rationale: To use Pupil Premium funding to maximise the potential of all children, maximise the achievement of all children and include all children in all aspects of school life, regardless of their personal circumstances. We achieve this by employing specialist teaching - extra to class teachers:
> SEN - 5 days per week
> Numeracy Support for SEN (including AGAT) - 3 days per week
> French - 1 1/2 days per week
> Creative Arts - 2 days
> Sports - 1 1/2 days
> Relate Counselling - 1/2 day
In 2011-12 the money was used to increase the amount of Teaching Assistant time allocated to some classes, thus providing additional individual and/or small group support to pupils who had been identified as vulnerable to not making the expected progress during the year. It was also used to provide 1:1 tuition in English and Maths for selected Y6 pupils, and to set up a Nurture Group for some of our younger children who had come into school with under-developed social and emotional skills. All children who attracted Pupil Premium funding during 2011-12 made at least the expected progress from KS1 to KS2 in both English and Maths. For the 2012-13 academic year, our Pupil Premium allocation will be £28,658.
